Privacy & Data Policy

We respect your privacy and your dog’s safety. This policy explains how Pup & Go Limited (“Pup & Go”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, stores and protects personal information when you visit our website, book a walk, subscribe to a service, or otherwise interact with us. We comply with the Privacy Act 2020 and other applicable New Zealand laws.

We collect only the personal information needed to deliver our services, communicate with you and meet our legal obligations. Some information (for example contact details, emergency contacts, vet details and key dog health information) is mandatory because we cannot perform our services without it. If you choose not to provide this information, we may be unable to accept a booking or complete a service.

Information we collect

Depending on the service you request, we may collect:

Your name, phone number, email address and home address (required to arrange pickups and communicate with you)
Your dog’s name, breed, age, weight, sex, vaccination status and behavioural notes (required to assess suitability for services)
Emergency contacts and veterinary clinic details and any relevant medical information (required for your dog’s safety)
Preferred dates, times and locations for walks and care (to schedule services)
Property access information (e.g. lockbox codes or key instructions) to collect or return your dog
Photos, videos or GPS routes from walks used for walk summaries and updates
Subscription and payment information for managing your plan

In most cases we collect this information directly from you via our website or onboarding forms. We may occasionally collect information from a third party (for example, a veterinarian) with your authorisation or where permitted by law.

How do we use and share your information?

We use the information we collect to:

Schedule and deliver dog‑walking and pet‑care services and ensure dogs are grouped appropriately
Communicate with you about bookings, cancellations, walk summaries, emergencies and your dog’s wellbeing
Send you photos, videos and GPS summaries of your dog’s outings (shared only with you unless you consent to marketing use)
Maintain business records for invoicing, taxation, subscription management and insurance purposes
Improve our services, for example by reviewing behavioural information to match dogs safely and adjust routes

We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for marketing. We may disclose information if required by law (e.g. to comply with animal control or consumer protection legislation) or to trusted service providers who assist us with payment processing, booking software, email, web hosting or veterinary emergencies. Where these service providers are located outside New Zealand, we ensure that comparable privacy safeguards apply or, if necessary, obtain your explicit consent before transferring your information.

Photos, videos & GPS data

We enjoy sharing updates with owners. When we take photos, short videos or GPS logs during walks, we will only share them with you. We will ask for your explicit consent before using any images of your dog for social media or marketing. We never publish identifiable information about your home or location.

Data security, breaches & retention

We store your information securely and take reasonable steps to protect it from loss, unauthorised access, or disclosure. We retain personal information only as long as necessary to provide our services and meet legal obligations (such as record‑keeping, consumer law and insurance requirements). When information is no longer needed, we securely destroy or anonymise it.

If we experience a privacy breach that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and affected individuals as soon as practicable, in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020.

Your rights and contact

You have the right to access and correct the personal information we hold about you. You may also request that we limit use of optional information or update your contact preferences.
